Soul Doll Workshops

These Expressive Arts workshops are based upon the power of play and the power of dolls as icons in cross-cultural ritual and folklore. The intent is to allow a meaningful representation to emerge unfettered from the imagination that can lead to greater relationship with oneself, empower growth, healing and change.
What…
Lynn Dewart, an artist and visionary and Expressive Arts Practitioner in Training, shares her work and her world of experience in creative expression as a pathway to intimate relationship with self. Her soft sculptures and artdolls provide a doorway to encounter La Que Sabe (the One Who Knows), the Wild Woman and other aspects of our human experience. Rich in story, they are Healers and Cantadoras, doors and windows, avenues and pathways for healing trauma, encouraging growth and expression, and embodying hope. They can retrieve and integrate the lost, forgotten, discarded, stolen and unfamiliar parts of herself.
Appreciating the nuances and variety of the human condition is one of her gifts, sharing the power of art is her passion.

“I really enjoyed the gentle, evolutionary process of making my doll. Lynn provided an atmosphere where anything could happen…and it did. My doll came alive for me after the workshop and created a spark igniting new passion in my life. My doll became an intimate reflection of my thoughts about creativity and was imbued with the power to protect my creative expression.” – MaryBeth Hughes, M.A
“A sacred, creative time of sharing woman experience and woman power with my daughters and friends working individually and yet together to set our intentions and bring about our own empowerment.” – Wendy Evans, Chaplain, M.A. Depth Psychology
“Lynn’s workshops are in a word, magical. It begins with an invitation into her realm of powerful, sensual, sometimes even primitive manifestations of the feminine. Lynn, a natural storyteller, weaves a captivating tale of her journey into the unknown to rediscover hidden parts of the psyche. A circle of sacred power dolls protects and empowers a smaller circle of women, evoking their own manifestions of Goddesses, inner guides and lost souls, while sharing their own stories. It is healing and transformational, but the magic does not end here. As each woman creates her own image with personal and symbolic embellishments, by focusing on the energy being evoked, a shift occurs. I can personally attest to synchronistic events occurring directly related to the issues brought to the surface by creating this sacred doll. Creativity and intent have an alchemic effect in the process. – Arnell Ando, M.A., Expressive Art Therapist
“I found the goddess doll workshop to be a most effective process for focusing and affirming my creative energy. It was a way of dispelling doubt and negative thinking which had in the past resulted in creative slumps. At the same time, free of those undermining influences, I found myself with a newed faith in my art that propelled me into one the most productive periods in a long time and made me fearless in my journey to get my art “out there”. – Diane O’Connor, Artist
